Mid-Term Break for Basic Schools?
JUST IN: Has GES Approved a June 4–5 Mid-Term Break for Basic Schools?
Teachers across Ghana are asking one important question:
Will Thursday, June 4 and Friday, June 5 be observed as a mid-term break for the third term?
The confusion stems from the 2025/2026 Academic Calendar currently circulating, which clearly provides mid-term breaks for the first and second terms but does not indicate any mid-term break for the third term.
As of now, Smart Teachers Avenue has not sighted any official circular or publication from the Ghana Education Service (GES) or the Ministry of Education approving June 4–5 as a mid-term break for Basic Schools.
Many teachers, heads of schools, and parents are therefore seeking clarity on whether schools are expected to remain in session or observe a break.
