BECE 2026 for Private Candidates: Registration Dates, Requirements & Exam Schedule

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially announced the commencement of registration for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for Private Candidates, 2026.

This examination is meant for individuals who could not write the BECE earlier or wish to improve their previous results.

Registration Period

Registration for BECE 2026 (Private Candidates) starts on Monday, 12th January, 2026 and ends on Friday, 13th February, 2026.

Both:

• First-time candidates, and

• Re-sitters
  are eligible to apply.

How to Register

All prospective candidates are required to:

• Visit the official WAEC website for registration guidelines, and

• Register at WAEC-accredited internet cafés nationwide.

Online self-registration is not allowed without an accredited centre.

Examination Dates

The BECE for Private Candidates, 2026 is scheduled to take place from:

Monday, 4th May, 2026 to Monday, 11th May, 2026

Candidates are advised to complete registration early to avoid last-minute challenges.
