A joint letter from Ghana’s major teacher unions – GNAT, NAGRAT and PRETAG – has been sent to the Minister of Education following the Controller & Accountant-General’s Department’s announcement of a delay in two categories of allowances. The unions have registered strong displeasure and are calling on the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance, the Ghana Education Service and the Fair Wages & Salaries Commission to do the right thing and ensure teachers receive what is due them without further delay.

What happened

CAGD confirmed a pause in processing two allowances scheduled for November 2025, citing a technical hitch in the payroll run.
