Kayera M/A Islamic School Explores Kakum National Park and Elmina Castle in Cape Coast
In a powerful blend of education and adventure, Kayera M/A Islamic Primary and JHS in the Offinso Municipal has successfully embarked on a field trip to Kakum National Park and Elmina Castle in Cape Coast — an experience that has left unforgettable memories in the hearts and minds of every participant.
This educational tour to Kakum National Park and Elmina Castle was not just about sightseeing — it was a carefully planned journey designed to expose students to Ghana’s rich history, culture, and natural heritage. From the breathtaking canopy walkways of Kakum National Park to the emotionally stirring tour of Elmina Castle, students had the opportunity to embrace the beauty of nature’s artworks and explore the real-life stories behind the slave trade and colonial architecture.

🌿 A Day of Learning Beyond the Classroom
For many of the students, this was their first time seeing Ghana’s coastal region, and it opened their eyes to a side of the country that textbooks alone could never fully capture.
As the students walked among the towering trees at Kakum National Park, their curiosity and wonder were evident. Guided by park officials, they learned about Ghana’s forest ecosystem, wildlife conservation, and the importance of protecting our natural environment.

Later, at Elmina Castle, students received a deeply reflective lesson in history. The tour provided a vivid reminder of Ghana’s role in the transatlantic slave trade, allowing students to connect emotionally with the past while appreciating the resilience of the African spirit.
