MAWUADEK FOUNDATION COMMEMORATES 2022 MENSTRUAL HYGIENE DAY WITH STUDENTS IN THE VOLTA REGION:
Menstrual hygiene day is a day celebrated on 28th of May every year to dwell on menstrual well being of women and adolescents.
In this year’s celebration, Mawuadek foundation, an NGO in the Ho West District of the Volta Region of Ghana, decided to commemorate the day with the pupils of Dzolo Gbogame EP primary and JHS as well as Saint Anthony Basic school all situated in Dzolo Gbogame of the Ho west District.
In attendance were the Ho West District Director of Education Mr. Agbemadi Francis Yao, the District Coordinator of Girl Child, Madam Duphey Rose Princess, representatives from the District Health Directorate: Madam Deborah Kofitse (midwife), Mr. Ben Amoako (Community Health Nurse), and the co founder of “Girls today, women tomorrow” foundation, Mr. Chris Akordor.
In his opening remarks, the CEO of Mawuadek foundation, Mr. Adekpuitor Mawfemor was happy with all the attendees and pledge the foundations support towards the promotion of education in the district.
The district director of education, Mr. Agbemadi Francis Yao, in his remarks was happy with the activities of the foundation in promoting education in the district. He also urge the foundation to expand it’s horizon to cover other schools in the district in subsequent programs.
The representatives from the District Health Directorate along side the Girl Child coordinator in the district educated the pupils and parents on the need for their menstrual hygiene followed by talks from the representative from “Girls today, women tomorrow” foundation.
Mawuadek foundation then donated sanitary pads and exercise books to all the female students and their parents.
The host head teacher of Dzolo Gbogame EP primary school, Mr. Victor Klu who was also the MC for the occasion was also enthused with the gesture from the foundation and ask the foundation to also support them with other educational materials.
In his closing remarks, the managing director of Mawuadek foundation, Mr Adekpuitor Eric (ARISTO PAPILUS ONE) expressed his profound gratitude to individuals and organisations who usually sponsor and support their activities in the district.
